A Message From The Program Director

My coaching philosophy is built around the belief that ‘Everybody is full of potential…so why not bring the best of this out!”
By continually challenging the player’s skill level, self confidence and self esteem are naturally heightened, translating into player and team success.
MY STORY
My coaching career spans over 40 years, encompassing roles as a head coach, assistant coach, and core skills coaching instructor at the minor hockey level and hockey schools. Before transitioning to coaching, my successful and lengthy hockey career included being drafted in the first round of the OHL by the Oshawa Generals. I played four seasons in the OHL, earning a trip to the Memorial Cup with Oshawa and also captaining the Windsor Spitfires.
I was drafted and spent two seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins organization, followed by a stint with the St. Louis Blues. Recognizing the importance of education, I played four years as a student-athlete, earning my Bachelors of Business Administration at UPEI. During my time with the Panthers, I was an AUAA Rookie of the Year, MVP, and CIAU All-Star. I was also named to the All-Canadian team while leading the AUAA in scoring.
Finishing my playing career with the Canadian National team and Division 1 hockey in France and Finland, I turned my passion for hockey into coaching. Throughout my coaching journey, I developed The True Hockey Program based on my extensive experience playing in different programs and countries. I continue to run the program out of the Greenfoot Energy Centre in Bedford, Nova Scotia, while my family and I have been long-time residents of Fall River, NS.
The True Hockey Program Philosophy
The True Hockey Program exists to teach hockey players how to shoot fast, hard, and accurately. That is what we do. We continuously improve and adapt our programs and always strive to provide you with the best possible training.
We will help you gain confidence and elevate your hockey game. We will do this in a fun and professional manner. We will take great pride in your success whether that is scoring more goals on a recreation team or getting drafted by an NHL team.
We believe in the transformative power of our programs and the ability of players to improve their game using the structure and content of our programs. We believe in the untapped growth potential of our players.
